A LeRoy volleyball phenom will be playing in the U.S. next season.
Mariah Johb of LeRoy will be playing with the Williston State College Tetons women's volleyball team in Williston, North Dakota.
Johb is currently finishing out a very promising senior season playing for a club team out of Saskatchewan.
With a strong class of sophomores returning next season, the 5'11" middle hitter is exactly the dynamic player the Tetons will need to compete for the berth to the national tournament next season, the team stated.
Johb will be an essential addition to the front row both for her offensive and defensive abilities.
The Tetons are excited Johb chose WSC to pursue her athletic and academic goals and she seems to share that feeling.
"I feel that WSC is a great place to start and grow physically and athletically as an athlete," she told the school. "I am extremely grateful to be continuing my education after high school, let alone playing the sport I love, in the place that I've chosen to be! Williston State College has a great friendly atmosphere and makes me feel at home. My soon-to-be teammates and coaches make me excited to start a brand new chapter in my life!"
Johb is the daughter of Mike and Connie Johb of LeRoy. She plans to complete her Associates in Arts and Science while at WSC then transferring to a four- year program.
Coach Hoehn of the Tetons volleyball team said that "Mariah is exactly what we were looking for to round out our roster for next season. She is a very dynamic athlete who comes in with a strong skill foundation and it will be fun to watch her develop her game to compete at the next level. She's definitely the type of athlete who teammates like to play with, coaches appreciate, and fans will enjoy watching!"
