The Battlefords North Stars announced earlier in the week that Michelle Beatty has joined the team as the new athletic therapist and trainer for the 2012-13 season.

Beatty comes to the North Stars highly recommended from the University of Guelph Gryphons, where she served as athletic therapist for the men's CIS hockey team.

She graduated with honours from McMaster University with a bachelor of kinesiology. She then completed a bachelor of health science (athletic therapy) from the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in 2010. Her experience includes time with the Tri City Outlaws men's football program, who captured the Canadian championship, Burlington Central Varsity Blues hockey team, Guelph Hurricanes junior B hockey team and the Guelph Gryphons University men's hockey program.

"We are excited to add Michelle to our staff for the upcoming season," commented North Stars head coach and general manager Kevin Hasselberg. "The qualifications and experience she brings to the North Stars team will enhance the development of our players and ensure their safety needs are met."

Beatty resides in Burlington, Ont., but will make her transition to the Battlefords in time for the North Stars fall camp Aug. 31.

Beatty will fill the roles previously held by Missy Reiter, the team's athletic therapist, and trainer Dale Jackson.
