Ed Kjargaard, with the help of Tom Foster and the Wintonyks (William and Marguerite), had but one loss and one tie in the fall session of the New Horizons curling. In the afternoon draw, Kjargaard started out blanking the first and then took three in the second. By the fourth things were tied up. Kjargaard seemed to like threes as they scored another in the fifth and again in the sixth, coming away as the champion of the fall session.
Belyk, Gregoire and Krismer were a game behind Kjargaard.
In other curling action, Dick Horrell scored one in each of the first four ends but then gave up five in the next one when curling against Brian Peever. He was not in the Christmas spirit as they took one in the seventh end and won.
The Forester four started out being gentlemen by allowing the Dudek gals one in the first end, but then came back with a couple of twos before giving up two in the fourth. Forester went on for the win, but not by much.
The Gregoire rink also likes the number one. They scored singles in the first six ends against Eugene Korpach before giving up two in the seventh.
Just what happened to the three rocks in the second end, we are not sure. But it doesn't matter as the Foster/Puff rink scored five against the Bruce Chadwick group. From then on, it was a matter of exchanging scoring on each end right up until the eighth when Chadwick stole four to tie the game.
Belyk's bunch were only a point out of first place at the start of the day. After four ends, Ralph Hall had the game tied at two. In the fifth, had Belyk made the house with an open draw on his final stone, he would have counted four. He was scratching his head in the next end because he came up short again and Hall drew to the four to come within one. The game ended in a tie.
Korpach did not like the trouncing he took in the morning draw and took revenge out on Lyle Darwent's group by scoring eight points after giving up one in the first. The Korpach rink was eight up coming home.
It was three all after four ends between Krismer and Raycraft. The two rinks were tied at four after six. But in the end, Raycraft kept their record intact and Krismer took the win.
The New Horizons will be back curling again on Jan. 7 with new teams.
