Another Battlefords North Stars player will be plying his trade in the NCAA.
A couple of days after MacGregor Sinclair announced his commitment to the Canisius Golden Griffins, third year defenceman Levi Kleiboer announced on Twitter Wednesday that he will be joining the Maine Black Bears program for the 2018-19 season.
The 19-year-old from Martensville is third in team scoring this year with 24 points in 21 games and will be vying for a spot on Canada West's roster at the World Junior A Challenge at a camp in Calgary this weekend.
The Black Bears, who are based of Orono, are members of the Hockey East conference and currently have a 5-7-0 record.
They won a pair of national championships in 1993 and 1999, with their last trip to the Frozen Four tournament coming in 2012.
The North Stars now have two of the five players in the SJHL that have committed to NCAA programs.
Those other players are Flin Flon Bombers forward Robert Johnson (Air Force), Melfort Mustangs defenceman Tyler Heidt (Alaska-Anchorage) and Nipawin Hawks defenceman Josh McDougall (Mercyhurst).
