The Korpach rink is back on top in New Horizon curling as of March 5.The win to put them on top didn't come easy, as they were all tied 4-4 with the Wally Gordey rink. He was one up coming home and all that was needed was a guard to end the game.Gordey came close to winning, but the long guard-raise just missed.
Dick Horrell likes the number three, or so it seems, because that is what his team scored in ends one and five against Al Rogers. Wayne Lambie scored a big five in the third and Ralph's two threes were not enough to overcome that lead.
Peter and Ed played the sixth end and were all tied. Most all of the rocks were in or close to the house with Peter was sitting one. Down came Ed with scatter speed and found a way to count one. No one knows how it was done but that was the result. They also did well in the seventh and Ed had three in the bag coming home, just good enough for the win.
In the morning draw we saw nothing but twos and threes for the first six ends and Dick Weisner's rink leading by two. After the seventh end, a look at the board revealed a big five for the Scott rink, putting them one up in the final end.But all was for naught as Alexander Scott went down to defeat giving up two.
Oh, how nice it is to score four in the first end and then go on to win for the first time.Just ask Doug Belyk, as he had to make his final stone for the win.Could it be that they were playing a substitute?
In the final game, Bob Krismer and Gord Hagen started out with a friendly game, which turned nasty. At first there were nothing but ones, and then there was a 3-2-3, which sealed the end to the Krismer foursome.
Who's in second you might ask? It's the Wayne Lambie team of Louie Uhrmann, Henry Tkatchuk and Joe Gabruch and just a half game off the lead.
