A leading scorer with the Battlefords North Stars is heading to New York state for the next chapter in his hockey journey.
The North Stars announced Thursday that Kyle Hall had committed to join the Plattsburgh Cardinals who play in NCAA Division III. The Cardinals play in the State University of New York Athletic Conference.
What attracted Hall to the Cardinals was their strong academic program and success on the ice. In the last ten years the university has been to the NCAA tournament six times and captured five Conference Postseason Tournament titles.
"I am excited about pursuing my education while playing for the Cardinals," said Hall in a statement Thursday.
"I chose Plattsburgh because of their continued success on the ice and the university's strong accredited business program."
In a news release, the North Stars organization congratulated Hall and his family for his accomplishments and wished him continued success both academically and athletically with Plattsburgh University.
North Stars fans have fond memories of Hall from his past three years with the Junior A club.
Among the highlights for the product of Assiniboia was being named the team's rookie of the year in 2011 and being awarded team MVP and leading scorer awards with the team during his final season.
In 169 games played Hall scored 54 goals for his total of 121 points.
Before joining the North Stars, Hall played midget hockey with the Tisdale Trojans in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League where he recorded 13 goals and 24 assists in 44 games in his final season.
