Ladies on the mark for Northwest Open

Two days of beautiful weather produced some great scores for 44 ladies golfing at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club. Kathy Ziglo competed in the individual championship flight in the Ladies' Northwest Open.

Two days of beautiful weather produced some great scores for 44 ladies golfing at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club.

Kathy Ziglo competed in the individual championship flight in the Ladies' Northwest Open. After a 73 Saturday, Sunday, Ziglo turned in a 79 score and was crowned the winner with a 152 stroke total.

Delia DeJong was three strokes back of Ziglo in the championship flight and took second place.

Third place went to Joanne Schetter with a 158 score.

In the first next flight of individuals, Carol Spanks took top honours with a 177 score. In second was Janais DeJong. Third place in that flight went to Audrey Perra.

In the team event, golfers played best ball on the weekend and it was the team of Bonnie Kletke and Ann Kirkland earning first place with a 69.

The local duo of Deanna Klusa and Rhonda Seidle placed second with a 71.

Cindy Bartko and Janet George took third place in the first flight with a 72.

In the second flight, Alice Doran and Shelly Scott turned in a score of 77 and took first place. Second went to Vivian Weinmeyer and Debbie MacGregor. Monique Bonneau and Shirley Helmerson were third.

The third flight team championship went to Melanie Bohun and Darcy Tkatchuk with an 82. Jennifer Fafard and Kelly Herperger were second and third was the team of Susan Mcafee and Phyllis Cook.

The season for ladies' open golf tournaments picks up with Silver Lake, Aquadeo, Brightsand, Little Loon, St. Walburg and Meadow Lake having tournaments coming up in the next four weeks for lady golfers.
