It was a close game between two local high schools. The Lake Lenore senior girls' soccer team won a game 2-0 against Humboldt Collegiate Institute (HCI) on September 13 at Glenn Hall Park. The two teams were fairly evenly matched, but Lake Lenore managed to get the upper hand. "Both teams seemed to be equally matched as the play switched from one end to the other frequently and each team was dominant in each end," said HCI coach Kaitlin Prokosch. "Lake Lenore managed to get past our defence for their first goal and had a nice high shot from further out for their second goal."HCI still showed strength throughout the game."We had also scored, but unfortunately our goal did not count, as we had knocked the ball out of the goalie's hands," said Prokosch. Prokosch was proud of her team, even if they were unable to even out the score. "Our team played strong, especially in the second half and kept pressure on the Lake Lenore defence, but we just couldn't seem to get a good shot on goal," said Prokosch. "Shots either skimmed pass the sides of the net or ended up in the goalie's hands." She is looking forward to HCI's next game and said her team will be practising passing in front of the net and more conditioning.
