LASHBURN - The Lashburn Curling Club is set to host the second annual Prairie Bog Jog June 7. The event is a five-kilometre course with a variety of challenging obstacles designed to provide participants with an afternoon full of fun.
The Prairie Bog Jog will include 10 to 15 obstacles, including over and under obstacles, balance obstacles, climbing obstacles and a number of wet and muddy obstacles. The highlight of last year's event was the mud slide.
"When the racers came to the mud slide, they were so excited," said race director Lisa Henry. "The slide was done so well. It had water circulating to ensure it was really wet. We kept it soaped to ensure it was slippery and it all ended with a big splash in the water at the bottom. Our slide guys plan to somehow make it even better this year."
This year's event also offers a two-kilometre junior event for kids ages 10 to 16. The course will include the mud pits and slide, as well as a few obstacles. The junior event will be in a separate heat to ensure the kids are able to enjoy the run without the competition of the adult heats.
"The course will be challenging, but it will also be a lot of fun. We encourage individuals of all fitness levels who are interested in participating to do so," said Henry. "The event is not a timed event. We will have the Running Room on site with a clock, however participants will not be ranked by finishing times. We want all the participants to be able to enjoy the obstacles and get muddy, not worry about being first, second or third place."
Information about the event is being released on an on-going basis to the Prairie Bog Jog Facebook page. Registration is open until May 7. All participants must register through www.runningroom.com.
Proceeds from the event will support the Lashburn Curling Club's building addition.
