With the late spring it seemed like green grass would never make an appearance in the Battlefords, but now that the warm weather is here it marks the beginning of another lawn bowling season.
The local club welcomes people of all ages to try out the sport as a way to meet new people and just enjoy a nice, summer evening outdoors.
The club meets in the lawn bowling greens in Centennial Park, a location it's called home for over 30 years.
Free lessons are available for anyone interested on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning May 24 at 6:30 p.m. New members are always welcome.
Equipment is provided, and newcomers will get to enjoy the recently renovated clubhouse.
There are pick-up games three times per week, but club members take part in tournaments at other clubs during the season as well. It's a recreational sport that doesn't have to be competitive; the club just encourages a fun time for all.
