Flight Corporal Jason Reimer is hoping the second time is a charm.

Jason, 15, has qualified to participate in the Cadet National Biathlon Competition for the second time.

Biathlon is combination of skiing and shooting. The competitors ski a circuit and shoot at targets until they cross the finish line.

It is that simple, or at least it was for Jason this season.

Jason's most recent competition was at the provincial level at Round Lake where he placed first overall.

This year's process began in October for Jason, as he and several others competed in the local level competition. From there it was off to zones in Novmeber. At zones, Jason along with Warrant Officer Austin Legacy, Corporal Morgan Bhose, Sergeant Kiwi Pete-Bull, Corporal Dawria Dickson and Corporal Hanna Adamcryk qualified for provincials.

Jason is now headed to Martock, N.S. to represent the No. 43 Royal Canadian Air Cadets Squadron and the province from March 3 to 10.

He will be one of 12 cadets who make up the Saskatchewan team while the athletes range from 12 to 18 years old.

The cadets come from not only the Air Cadet Squadrons but also the Army Cadet Corps and Sea Cadet Corps throughout the country.

"This is a great opportunity for me to represent my squadron and province," says Jason. "It also gives me a chance to see part of my country that I might not have seen otherwise and to meet cadets from across Canada."
