Local swimmers medal at Provincials

Nineteen members of the Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team headed to Provincials in Regina on the August long weekend, just days after competing at the Saskatchewan Summer Games in Meadow Lake.

Nineteen members of the Humboldt Hammerheads Swim Team headed to Provincials in Regina on the August long weekend, just days after competing at the Saskatchewan Summer Games in Meadow Lake.
And like they did at the Summer Games, they hauled home a bunch of medals - 27 in total, 15 of those gold.
Michael Carnago, 13, claimed the most gold medals of the Hammerheads, winning all five of the races he entered in the male 13-14 age category, including the 200m free, the 100m free, the 100m back, the 50m free and the 200m IM.
Justin Berscheid, 11, was next in line in the medal haul, bringing home four golds in the male 11-12 200m free, the 100m free, the 50m free and the 200m IM. He also came in fifth in his fifth race, the 100m breast.
Ryan Stumborg, 18, medalled in every event he entered, winning golds in the male 18 and over 100m fly, 100m free and 50m free, a silver in the 100m back and a bronze in the 200m IM.
Elliot Dillabough, 11, also came home with a nice medal haul, coming in first in the male 11-12 50m fly, second in the 100m free, first in the 100m back, third in the 50m free and fourth in the 100m breast.
The rest of the results are as follows:
Maya Berscheid, 11, came in eighth in the female 11-12 50m fly, fourth in the 100m breast, sixth in the 100m free, fifth in the 50m free and sixth in the 200m IM.
Avery Dillabough, 15, came in fourth in the female 15-17 100m breast, 10th in the 100m free, seventh in the 100m back, and sixth in the 50m free.
Drew Dillabough, 13, came in third in the male 13-14 100m breast, seventh in the 200m free, ninth in the 100m free, fifth in the 100m back and sixth in the 50m free.
Georgia Dillabough, 7, came in ninth in the female 7-8 50m free and the 25m back, and 10th in the 25m free.
Lauren Hinz, 9, came in 11th in the female 9-10 50m back and 12th in the 50m free.
Ryan Hinz, 11, came in 11th in both the male 11-12 100m free and the 50m free, and sixth in the 200m IM.
Karyn Kaip, 9, came in ninth in the female 9-10 50m back and the 50m free.
Haley Lins, 8, placed first in the female 7-8 50m free, third in the 25m breast, fourth in the 25m free and eighth in the 25m fly.
Taylor Lins, 12, came in ninth in all of her events in the female 11-12 age category - the 50m fly, the 100m free, the 100m back, the 50m free and the 200m IM.
Shanleigh McKeown, 13, placed ninth in the female 13-14 100m back, 10th in the 100m breast, 100m free and 200m IM, and 11th in the 200m free.
Simon Merkosky, 29, placed third in the male 18 and over 100m breast, as well as in the 100m back and 50m free, and placed fourth in the 100m free and 200m IM.
Jordan Nienaber, 9, placed ninth in both the female 9-10 50m fly, and the 50m free, 10th in the 100m free and 50m back, and 11th in the 100m IM.
McLaren Paulsen, 8, won silvers in the male 7-8 25m breast and 100m IM, a bronze in the 25m fly and placed sixth in the 50m free and 25m free.
Abigail Seidle, 14, placed ninth in the female 13-14 100m breast, 10th in the 200m free and 100m back, and 11th in the 100m free.
Michael Solar, 9, earned seventh place in the male 9-10 50m breast, eighth in the 100m IM, ninth in both the 50m back and 50m free, and 10th in the 100m free.
