Junior golfers took to the links for two days at Cooke Municipal Golf Course in Prince Albert on the weekend and although the golfers from the Northwest didn't earn the qualifying berth for the shortlist for the Srixon International Junior Classic in New South Wales, Australia, they did have an impressive weekend.

Kristian Houk of North Battleford and Justin Wood of Unity both finished in the top six in their divisions and both won additional awards in Prince Albert.

Houk, 12, competed in the 13 and under division and sat in fifth place after a first-round score of 85. Kristian jumped up the standings on the second day with an 83, as the wind and course conditions were said to be much tougher. Kristian finished third in his division.

Kristian also claimed the Mr. Lube Long Drive Award for his division on the weekend.

Justin competed in the 17 to 19 division and shot a first-round 84. He followed that up with a second round 75, the best score in his division on the second day, to finish in sixth place.

Justin also won the Golf Town Comeback Award in his division.

The MJT Saskatchewan schedule continues at The Legends Golf Club in Warman June 28 to 29. That event is also a qualifying event for the Future Collegiate World Tour Notre Dame event.
