The Battlefords Midget Stars are preparing for the team's first playoff action in nearly 10 years. The team is also handing out cash off the ice to the 2012-13 Midget Stars Lottery Winners.
Ironically, at the Stars last game of the regular season where the grand prize winner is draw, team captain Robin Yew picked the winning ticket and it was his mother Iona Yew. She won the $2,000 prize.
The $100 winners included Darren Schmidt, Duane Gerein, Teresa Bast, Alexa Bast, Jerry Duzan, Bobby Baier, Travis Young and Lloyd Yew three times. The $50 winners were Mel Toporowski, Sherri Schmidt, Harry Choque, Iona Yew and Kayla Tait.
The Stars home playoff game is Sunday at the Civic Centre as they face the Saskatoon Contacts in game two of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League series. If needed, game four will be played Thursday.
