The Maidstone Jets are the defending North Saskatchewan River Hockey League champions, but they remain winless through their first three games.

It could be a combination of players missing games and the target that being defending champions bring, but the stats don't lie. The Jets have scored just four goals in three games this season.

On the weekend Maidstone played in Paradise Hill Friday and hosted Turtleford Saturday.

The Paradise Hill Hawks won 6-1 over the Jets and improved to 1-2-1 on the season. The Jeanottes lead the offence for the Hawks, as Jamie had one goal and three assists. Derek had two goals.

Aaron Gervias, Derek Gervias and Jamie Sparkes had a goal and an assist each for the Hawks.

Brett Harrison scored the lone goal for the Jets late in the third period to break Michael Babchuk's shutout.

Dustin MacDonald was the goaltender for the Jets and surrendered two goals in the first period, three in the second and one in the third.

Saturday, the Jets were shutout 7-0 by the Turtleford Tigers.

Colby Franks was the losing goaltender while Jesse Ehnisz earned his first shutout of the season.

Offensively, the Tigers were lead by Darren Delainey who had a goal and three assists and Garret Macnab, who had two goals and an assist.

Adam Schwark had a goal and two assists while Kris Bloom, Kendall Edwards and Adam Gray also scored for the Tigers.

The Tigers are 2-2 on the season.

St. Walburg played twice on the weekend and won both games. Friday the Eagles hosted Edam and won 5-1.

It was a rough game, which resulted in a suspension for Edam's Brett Jullion and 69 penalty minutes between the two teams.

St. Walburg went up 1-0 after Sheldon Williamson scored in the first period. In the second, Edam's Chris Blaquiere tied the game. After that it was all St. Walburg as they scored three times in the second period, and once in the third.

Trent Campbell finished with two goals while Cutis Zerr and Trevor Bailey added one each.

Saturday, the Eagles hosted Meadow Lake and skated to a 9-4 win. Bryan Bridges earned his second win of the weekend while Jeff Vidal suffered the loss.

Bailey, Jordan Fuder and Campbell led the Eagles' attack with a combined seven goals and nine assists. Taylor Thiessen and Williamson also scored for St. Walburg.

Dustin Gorst scored twice for Meadow Lake while Darren Caron and Ashton McIntyre scored a goal each.

The other game on the weekend was a 5-2 win for Wilkie over Edam Saturday. The 3 Stars had just 10 skaters and kept the game close, but with a short bench ran out of steam late in the game.

Wilkie's Barrett Penner scored twice while Rick Cey, Lorne Griffiths and David Schell scored once.

Brody Tatchell and Mitch Wall scored for the 3 Stars.

Jared Herle was in net for Wilkie while Quinton Gauthier suffered the loss.

There are six games, three Friday and three Saturday on the schedule this weekend.
