They had a good crowd and a good result from their last home games of the season.
The Marysburg Royals senior baseball team played their last doubleheader at home on July 29, and trounced the Saskatoon Diggers in both games.
The first game, reported Curtis Strueby of the Royals, they won 8-0 with Paul Strueby on the mound for five innings, and Colin Bauml for two.
The Royals got a total of 12 hits in the game, led by Curtis Strueby, who had two hits and four RBIs, and Brent Puetz, who had three hits.
Their defence was on once again, recording no errors at all in the 8-0 win.
In the second game, Bevin Ledingham threw for four innings to get the win for Marysburg. Murray Bauml had also spent three innings on the mound.
The Royals made a total of nine hits, with Braden Bauml leading with two hits and three RBIs.
Once again, the Royals made no errors and won 6-1 to wrap their season at home.
With those wins, the Royals are still in top position in the Saskatoon Senior Baseball League, but they haven't clinched it, Strueby stated.
"The Smoking Guns are right behind us," he stated.
The Guns are at 13-4 right now, while the Royals are 18-3.
The Guns have to make up a bunch of games in the next two weeks, and the Royals still have three league games to play before they will know who will be in first place when playoffs begin.
Those playoffs will start in mid-August, Strueby noted - late this year because of all the early rain-outs this season.
"We'll know more in two weeks," Strueby promised.
In the meantime, the Royals will be heading to the Senior AA Provincial baseball tournament in Yorkton this weekend. They play their first game on Friday against Lloydminster, then face off against the Saskatoon Stallions and the team from Holdfast on Saturday.
"We are definitely in a strong pool," Strueby said. "It's going to be tough. But the way we've been playing already this year, we're pretty confident going in."
