The Saulteaux 3-Stars played first Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League games last week, but their league debut didn't go exactly as they planned.

Thursday night, Maymont improved to 3-0 with a 9-0 win over Saulteaux in Maymont.

Two nights later, the Battleford Beaver Blues earned their first win of the season on home ice against Saulteaux. After five players aside were issued fighting majors and the RCMP made an appearance at the Battleford Arena to try and calm the crowd, the final scored ended up 13-2.

Brett Michnik had four goals, Lorne Pewap had three, Dillon Friesen had two and Devin Esquirol, Mike Whitwell, Cody Bartusek and Dustin Dmytryshyn each had one.

Glen Heidt was the winning goalie, while Quinton Baptiste was the loosing goalie for the 3-Stars.

Andrew Peeyachew scored both Saulteaux goals.

Friday in Radisson, the Wheat Kings beat the Beaver Blues 10-5.

The other game on the schedule was Tuesday night but, since Saulteaux doesn't have ice, the game against Radisson was cancelled.

The schedule leading up to Christmas is busy with six games on the slate. Friday, Radisson is in Battleford. Saturday, Maymont is scheduled to play in Saulteaux. Sunday, Radisson heads to Maymont. Tuesday, Battleford is scheduled to play in Saulteaux. Thursday, Maymont goes to Battleford and Saulteaux plays in Radisson.

The games in Saulteaux likely will be postponed again this week because of their ice situation, but the hope is that they can reschedule those games once the ice is finished.
