HUMBOLDT — A familiar voice will be the Humboldt Broncos’ new marketing manager.

Rory McGouran, who called Broncos games on local radio station 107.5 Bolt FM in the 2018-19 season, has been hired for the position.

“I’m extremely honoured to have been offered this role,” he wrote on Twitter. “I’ve loved this team, these fans, and the community since the moment I got here. Now let’s get to work making Humboldt Broncos hockey the premier game day experience in the league.”

Scott Barney, the Broncos’ general manager, said out of the long list of people that applied,  McGouran had an advantage.

“Rory was at every game for us, not only at home but on the road,” he said. “He's with the players all the time. He knows the people in the community and people in the community know him.

“He’s a really good communicator and he brings a lot of passion to his work.”

Barney said McGouran will be starting the position as soon as possible and will be attending an upcoming marketing meeting with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
