Midget Red Sox lose out at Provincials

It was a hard loss for the Muenster Red Sox.

It was a hard loss for the Muenster Red Sox.
After the success of three minor ball teams from Muenster last weekend, the Muenster Midget A Red Sox were looking to add a fourth provincial championship the weekend of July 27-29 in Moose Jaw at the Midget A Provincials.
Sadly, the Red Sox didn't have a winning weekend.
"We finished one win ,two losses so we never made the playoffs," said coach Jim Korte.
The tournament started with a game against Nipawin, which Muenster lost 8-3, said Korte.
"We made three or four errors at the beginning and just couldn't catch up," said Korte. "They were hitting the ball really well."
They also lost the second game to Swift Current 6-4. That put the team out of the running for the finals.
"We didn't have a chance," said Korte.
After their first two losses, the team still had a third game, even though they were eliminated from the final.
"In our third game webeat Bethune 10-4, but still didn't make the playoffs," said Korte.
It all came down to the first game, said Korte.
"The first game, we came out flat," said Korte. "I don't know what happened. Maybe we thought since they don't play in an organized league, it would be easier."
The Midgets are now finished for the season, but ball isn't over in Muenster.
"We are still looking forward to the Pee Wees playing Westerns in Manitoba," said Korte.
He is also looking forward to next year.
"We should have a good team next year," said Korte.
He explained there will be a good core group since they will only be losing about three players from this year's team.
