It was a penalty filled game with both teams drawing 15 power plays, but Yorkton scored the only power play goal of the game in the second period.

Nigel Detbrenner-Rempel turned away 42 shots in his fourth win of the season for the Stars.

Sunday, two affiliated players made their midget AAA debut, as Logan Nachtegaele and Jaroah Sasakamoose suited up for the Stars. Yorkton spoiled their debuts, as they started the game physical and scored the first goal en route to a 9-3 win.

Brody Tatchell responded for the Stars with his 11th of the season from Zachary Nedelec and Tyson Empey, but Yorkton took control of the game with goals coming on a late power play, and later shorthanded, to go up 3-1 after the first period.

Yorkton scored four straight goals in the second period before Derocher scored from Young and Danczak on the power play with 12 seconds left in the second period on a two-man advantage.

The Stars started the third period still on the power play and scored again, as Danczak scored from Derocher and Robin Yew.

Yorkton added two more goals in the third period to take the 9-3 win and improve to 8-20-1-1, remaining one spot ahead of the Stars in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League Standings.

The Stars are 5-23-0-0 this season, but since Nov. 27 their record has hovered around the .500 mark with a 4-5-0-0 effort.
