Midget Stars split home opener weekend

Saturday, the Stars allowed four powerplay goals and lost 6-2 in their season opener. Justin Lund scored on the powerplay in the first with Dylan Fluter drawing the assists. Jesse Gerbig scored in the second from Regan Yew.

Colby Williams and Tim McGauley had a goal and an assist for Regina. Graham Black and Calder Brooks each had two assists.

Regan Santoro suffered the loss after making 27 saves. Andy Desautel also made 27 saves for the win.

Period scores were: 2-1, 4-2 and 6-2 for Regina.

The next day after watching the game tape from the day before, the Stars earned their first win of the season with a 4-3 victory.

Dillon Forbes scored on a powerplay early in the first, Colby daniels scored twice in teh second and Robin Yew scored once in the second.

Fluter had three assists with Lund picking up two assists, Daniels had one and Cody Thiel had the other.

Blair Mahon earned the win with 31 saves. Casey Parker made 21 saves in a losing effort.

The Stars were 1/4 on the powerplay and killer 6/7 penalties.
