The baseball season is underway for the youth in the Battlefords, as the overall numbers of baseball players in on par with previous seasons says Battlefords Minor Baseball president Ron Balfour.

From rookie ball, which is played in Battlefords to bantam, the baseball season has started.

Like the mosquito league, the peewees will play amongst themselves in North Battleford, as there are three teams this season. Of the three regular season teams, they will make one provincial team to play in AA later in the summer.

The Bantam team has 12 players and will play a 14-game schedule in the Northwest Bantam Baseball League. Already they had to postpone games because of weather, but the bantams should be in full swing at the baseball diamonds behind the Civic Centre this week.

It looked as though there would be a midget team in town, but BMB couldn't get enough players committed for the season. Five players joined the Wilkie team and will play in the Northwest Baseball League while a handful of others joined the senior team - North Battleford Beavers.
