The Mohawks captured the provincial gold with a thrilling 2-1 win over the Muenster Cougars in the championship match in North Battleford on Oct. 29.
The Mohawks kicked off their provincial championship on Oct. 28 when they took on Maymont.
The Mohawks offense came alive in the quarterfinal match as they racked up five goals en route to a comfortable 5-1 win.
In the semi-final the Mohawks met up with one of their Horizon Central counterparts, the Lake Lenore Lancers.
The game was a tight back-and-forth affair as the teams played to a deadlock through the end of regulation time. After extra time proved to settle nothing the two teams went to a shootout where the Mohawks edged past the Lancers 5-4.
In the final the Mohawks met up with the Cougars, who they beat in both the League championship and the regional championship.
With their two previous matchups both ending in a shootout the teams once again played a tight game with neither team managing to run away with the game but in the end the Mohawks emerged victorious with a 2-1 win to capture the provincial gold.
The win marked the second year in the row the Mohawks captured a 1A girls provincial medal, improving on their silver medal from last year.
With soccer now over athletes from across the province look toward the end of the volleyball season, with provincials scheduled for Nov. 18-19 for the girls and Nov. 25-26 for the boys, the football season, which is in the provincial semi-final round and the beginning of the basketball season, which gets underway at the beginning of December.
