Mother Nature's antics during the past week have made it difficult for anyone to be outside and that includes the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League teams.
Wednesday, two more games were added to the list of games that have been postponed due to rain and Monday was a write off as well.
Tuesday, some local area teams got their games in, as they move towards the final two weeks of the season. The Wilkie Brewers were mercied in six innings by the defending NSRBL champion Lloydminster Meridian Twins. The Twins used homers from Troy Winterhalt and Kevin Payne to beat Wilkie 12-2. The Twins sit tied for first in the standings with an 8-2 record while Wilkie fell into the middle of the pack with a 6-4 mark.
Also Tuesday, the Unity Cardinals topped the St. Walburg Reds 13-7 and improved to 6-4 on the season. The Reds are 1-7 on the year.
The league moves into the final weeks of the regular season with tight battles for every playoff spot still remaining. Two teams, the winless Mervin Flyers and winless Standard Hill Lakers, are out of the playoff picture at this point, but the 10 others still have shots at the eight playoff spots, as the end of the season approaches.
Within days, the senior and junior provincial draws are expected to be released and it is expected that as many as eight teams from the NSRBL entered provincials this year. The Saskatchewan Baseball Association released the minor baseball draws earlier this week.
