Naming a new honourary president

The late Senator Herb Sparrow served as the honourary president with the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum since its creation in 1983. After Sparrow's passing in September that position was left vacant.

The late Senator Herb Sparrow served as the honourary president with the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum since its creation in 1983.

After Sparrow's passing in September that position was left vacant. Last week, Jane Shury, the president and CEO announced the new honourary president.

Norm Bell of Saskatoon is the new honourary president and chair of the fundraising committee.

Sparrow didn't have a baseball career himself, but he was a big fan and supporter of the game. He was inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 as an honourary inductee.

Bell has been a great supporter of baseball after playing in his younger years. He served as a director of the Hall of Fame for years as well.

The Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum will hold its annual induction ceremony August 17 in Battleford. This will be the 29th annual and the first time their will be a new honourary president.

The dedline for nomination for induction is March 15.
