NBCHS curlers make final four

There likely wasn't much 'hurry' left in the North Battleford Comprehensive High School boys' team, but they had plenty of opportunities to curl at provincials in Weyburn on the weekend.

The NBCHS team skipped by Cole Tenetiuk, along with third Dion Tederoff, second Morgan Hadly and lead Taylor Primeau were on the ice for seven games in two days.

The NBCHS team's weekend started with a 4-3 loss to Assiniboia.

After dropping to the B event, Tenetiuk and his team went on to beat Yorkton 5-4.

NBCHS lost their next game 9-2 to Foam Lake and fell to the C event, where one more loss would eliminate them from the playoff round.

Saturday, NBCHS settled into form in the C events with two 8-3 wins, beating Estevan and Swift Current.

In the semifinals, Foam Lake beat NBCHS 9-2 again and sent them to the bronze medal game.

Foam Lake lost 5-4 to Saskatoon Holy Cross in the gold medal match.

In the bronze medal game, it was a rematch between Assiniboia and NBCHS and like their first game of the weekend, NBCHS fell by one point, this time by a 5-4 score.

NBCHS placed fourth at provincials and the last time a senior boys' team qualified for provincials was in 2010 when they failed to make the playoff round.
