Nearly 600 run trails at Provincials in Middle Lake

Nearly 600 runners hit the trails at Lucien Lake Regional Park on October 15, competing in the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletics Association (SHSAA) Provincial Cross Country Championships, hosted by Three Lakes School in Middle Lake.

Competitors in the midget girls' age group at the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletics Association Provincial Cross Country Championships take off from the starting line at Lucien Lake Regional Park near Middle Lake on October 15. Almost 600 runners took part in the day-long Provincial competition, including 94 in the midget girls' event.


Nearly 600 runners hit the trails at Lucien Lake Regional Park on October 15, competing in the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletics Association (SHSAA) Provincial Cross Country Championships, hosted by Three Lakes School in Middle Lake.
Three different age categories of runners - midget, junior and senior - ran distances ranging from three to six kilometres during the day-long event, which ran with the help of over 120 volunteers from all over the area.
A total of 58 runners from the Horizon Central Athletics Association (HCAA) competed at Provincials. One runner won a Provincial bronze medal, and five finished in the top 10.
In the schools competition, Three Lakes, Lake Lenore and Naicam Schools finished first, second and third in the 1A classified schools, with Muenster coming in fifth and Annaheim, 11th.
Humboldt finished fifth in the 3A school classficiation, and Wynyard finished ninth out of the 2A schools.
