Battlefords Youth Soccer made several changes to way the players are divided on to teams for the upcoming season. The changes will involve the age groups of the U10 up to the U18 division. Players will now be split based on their own preference to play in the recreational or competitive league. The recreational league is geared to players who want play basic soccer against other teams and learn a few more basic skills. The competitive league is for players who are interested in playing a faster pace, more intense style of soccer. The drills the competitive players will participate in will be more challenging with the idea of improving their soccer skills for the faster paced game.

In both leagues, the teams will be smaller and they will play seven versus seven soccer. The teams will utilize a smaller field. From the competitive soccer league, players can then choose to be on the travel team. There will be one travel team per age group and gender. These players will need to be committed to travel at the beginning of the season. If enough players are willing to travel there will be an extra day schedule per week so that players can practice with the travelling team.

BYSI was able to contribute an additional $5,000 towards the CUPlex's Raise the Roof fund and thank everyone who has helped raise the money and get the players that much closer to using the new facility. Multi Menu Pet Foods has a campaign running that with everyone purchase of pet food a portion of the money is donated back to BYSI and put towards the CUPlex fund. Also a Tupperware sale helped raise $1,200 for the fund.
