Monday, the sky cleared for the New Horizons, the sun shone and out came 34 members.

Five first timers hit the links with the New Horizons and helped to make nine teams. The first and last teams out were tied for first place when everyone was finished.

On a count-back, Wally and Bernice Scott with new comers Brian and Faye Erickson carded a 37 with a birdie on nine to take top spot.

Bruce Chadwick along with John Yarske and Wally Gordey could only par the final hole to take second place. There were also two teams tied at one stroke back for the third spot.Again on a count-back the honour goes to Lyle and Jutta Whitbread along with John Chomyn and Hank Nickel who each win a golf ball.

Another new member, Dave O'Donnell, took home a ball for coming closest to the pin on the eighth hole while an old timer Art Strueby gets his car washed courtesy of the Co-op for having the longest putt on nine.

Prizes are also given out for the honest foursome, and so the consolation prize will go to Wally and Marian McNabb with Joe Gabruch and Nester Brunwald. They had a respectable score, but came in behind the other eight teams.

The club next plays Monday, with a starting time of 9:30 a.m., as it will be one hour earlier henceforth. Get out early and get on a team.It is the early bird who gets the worm - but it is the second mouse who gets the cheese.
