The New Horizons spring curling has come to a close before the spring arrived and long before the snow has left.
In the morning draw March 19 on sheet one, the Hagen rink, who didn't count often but never-the-less did it big over the Forester group.
On the next sheet the Rogers foursome counted the first four ends against Dick Wisner before allowing him one. They did not stop there, far from it, as they counted five more on the next end and win they did.
The third game of the morning saw the Lambie team play for first place when they came up against the Belyk boys. They were one up coming home with last rock and with that win were the season winners for a short time, but then came the afternoon crew.
After lunch the first game to report was the Scott versus Pauls match. The Scott rink kept building houses only to have the Peter Pauls group pull them apart.Scott was only one down after six but then a two ender did them in.
In the Horrell/Gordey match it was all over after the second end or so it would seem, giving up four is hard to come back from. Then to do it again in the sixth ensured the Horrell four of a third place finish this spring.
The Hall rink started off with five and then exchanged rocks with the Kjargaard for the balance of the match. The strong finish for the Kjargaard team was just not enough.
The game to watch was the Krismer and Korpatch bout.Eugene Korpach needed the win to clinch first place. The first five ends were all single points but then a deuce in the sixth put him in the driver seat and they drove home with the victory and the New Horizons Spring Championship.
Curling with Korpach were third John Foster, second Donna Yahn and lead Myra Devonshire.
