After a three week delay due to the late spring, the New Horizons got to play golf on May 13.

It was finally a lovely sunny day in the mid-20s with a light breeze and nine teams came out on the opening day.

The Herman Friesen team with Fay MacKinnon, Ray Hoover and Brian Miller came in two under to win first place. Second place honours went to Bruce Dalshaug, teaming up with the Whitbreads (Lyle and Jutta), but they were four shots back. Third place wasn't quite as easy to determine, as both Meisner teams shot 39s. On a count-back it was Bernie Meisner, Brodie Partington, Ralph Soiseth and Dave Page taking the number three spot.

All winners get a ball, even the consolation team of John MacFarlane, Hank Nickel, John Dove and Lynn Williams. The competition has to be good when that group ends up on the bottom. MacFarlane also gets an additional prize for coming closest to the pin on number eight and Soiseth won the first car wash of the season, courtesy of the Co-op, for having the longest putt on nine.

Next week they will go at it again but because of the Monday holiday, play will be held over to May 23 with the first tee time at 8:30 am.
