Everyone of the New Horizons was a winner when they golfed Sept. 24, and that was because the weather could not have been better. It was warm, the sun was out, the wind was still and the North Battleford Golf and Country Club's course was in perfect condition. You can't ask for more - and so it was 44 players that took part in this year's final scramble.

When I say all were winners that was nearly the case as prizes go, as there were just three teams that did not win a ball.In the couples division it was the team of Bernie and Etta Meisner with Garry Nelson and Olive Hein who came in with the best score. They were followed by Bruce Dalshaug, Faye Carson and Lynn and Ina Williams. In third were the McNabbs (Wally and Marian) with the Cains (Dale and Dianne).

The consolation prizes went to Wally Bayne, Bruce Lotts and Lyle and Jutta Whitbread.

In the singles category it was the stacked team of Merv Zulynik, Bernie Gregoire, Wally Gordey and Barry Werth who had top honours. Runners-up were the group of Art Strueby, Jim Fraser, Doug Belyk and Orest Chrunik. Following them was Don Beggs with Kenny Schwab, John Yarske and Ken Holliday.

John MacFarlane, Hank Nickel, Jim Taylor and Bea Prutti came in with the consolation prize.

Other prizes were given out such as the ladies' longest drive that went to Fay MacKinnon. The men's longest drive went to Don Dament. The longest putt that day went to Faye Carson. The biggest prizes of all - Bouliva Wristwatches that were donated again this year by Lynn Williams - went to Lori Stark who came closest to the pin on number eight and Herman Friesen who did the same on number three.

The New Horizons are going to shut it down until Oct. 16 when they will meet again on the ice of the new curling rink.Anyone interested in joining this group can get in touch with Bernie or Merv and have their names included.Teams are to be made up for the fall session early in the month.
