Things are a-changing for the Humboldt Broncos in the off-season.
The organization has announced a number of new hires and some reorganization of their positions.
Luke Strueby, originally from Marysburg, has been hired as the Broncos' new assistant coach, following the resignation of both longtime assistant coaches Tim Klimosko and Murray Brookbank this spring.
In addition to coaching, Strueby will also be in charge of corporate sales and marketing for the organization, which is where the reorganization of position came in.
The marketing and sales work were previously done by the office manager.
Strueby is no stranger to the Broncos. He played for the team from 2003 to 2006 and "understands the importance of a team-first approach to everything we do," said Dean Brockman, head coach and general manager of the team.
A graduate of Minot State University with a degree in education, Strueby was a natural fit for the job, Brockman said.
Recently, while teaching at St. Dominic School in Humboldt, Strueby had been scouting for the Broncos.
"He is very familiar with our list and present players," said Brockman.
Also new behind the bench will be Chad Ellison, who has been a member of the Humboldt Broncos board for the past few years.
Ellison, originally from Preeceville, moved to Humboldt in 2009. He comes to the Broncos as a voluntary assistant coach.
He is currently the general sales manager at South 20 and is willing to help the team in his spare time.
"Chad was a very intense player in his days as a Royal when playing in Saskatoon," Brockman noted.
The position of trainer/ equipment manager, left vacant by the departure of Brett McCorkell at the end of last season, will be filled by Hayley Hill.
"Hayley's experience set her apart from all the other applicants," said Brockman. "Her experience at the 2011 Memorial Cup and most recently with Markam and Wellington, make her the natural choice."
The athletic therapy student from Clifford, Ontario is looking forward to the challenge of working with the Broncos in the upcoming season, it was noted.
And there's a new face up in the Humboldt Broncos' front office as well.
Noreen Strueby has been hired as the office manager for the team.
"Her experience and wealth of knowledge made it an easy hire," Brockman said.
She will be starting her new position July 30, after she and her husband Wayne relocate to Humboldt.
"The Humboldt Broncos are pleased to have these quality people join our program," Brockman said. "We've found some really good people."
