Nipawin Hawks win home opener against La Ronge Ice Wolves

At their home opener, Nipawin Hawks defeated the La Ronge Ice Wolves 5-1.

The Nipawin Hawks won 5-1 against the La Ronge Ice Wolves on Sept. 25.

NIPAWIN, LA RONGE — The Nipawin Hawks continued their winning streak against the La Ronge Ice Wolves.

In the Sept. 25 game in Nipawin, the Hawks won 5-1.

The first period was dominated by the Hawks. Dayne Feicht of the Hawks scored the first goal of the game during a power play. Fellow Hawks Brody Wilson and Josh Morton added two more goals for the team.

Jacob Jonkman scored La Ronge's only goal during the second period, with assists from Kole Christensson and Parker Layton.

Nipawin resumed scoring in the third period, with Evan Bortis getting a goal during a power play and Andrew Schaab scoring with an assist from  Phil Laberge.

Chase Hamm of the Hawks stopped 19 of out 20 shots, while Dawson Smith of the Ice Wolves stopped 21 out of 26.
