The weather was perfect Monday night and the pitching for the Battleford Bantam Bandits wasn't far off.
The Battlefords Ladies' Fastball League game on the Battleford Flats saw the Survivors go without a hit, running into red hot pitching from the Bandits.
The game was close at the beginning. Both Battleford and the Survivors had good pitching and it showed on the scoreboard. The Bandits' first inning run was all either team could muster to start the game.
In the fourth inning, the Bantams' offence got as hot as their pitching. The club exploded for six runs to give them an early seven run lead. Once again the defence hit the field for a quick inning.
In the fifth, the Bandits secured the victory. Seven runs were put up on the board before the inning was called because of the single inning run limit.
The game was called at the end of the sixth inning, which neither team scored in, because of the 14-0 Bandits lead.
Monday evening's tilt marked the end of the regular season, except for teams playing make up games on Wednesday. Edam will be in Unity for one.
The win gives the Bandits a big confidence boost going into the playoffs, which start July 3. Before they get in playoff mode the ladies will be focusing solely on their provincial tournament this weekend in Saskatoon. They'll be hoping they can get a similar performance there as they did against the Survivors Monday.
