North Battleford golfer have good showing in Saskatoon

The Willows Golf and Country Club hosted 72 competitive golfers from across the province and the North Battleford representatives had a strong showing.

The Callaway Classic took place Monday and Tuesday and the top score and $2,200 went to Dean Brown of Regina.

The top local golfer was Tim Acaster. He shot 73 in both the first and second rounds and was seven strokes behind the leader. Acaster was tied for eighth place.

Dwayne Johnston was tied for 26th after 74 and 78 scores.

Tyler Wilson turned in a 78 in his first round and a 76 in the second round and was tied for 36th at +10.

Wilson also competes on the Maple Leaf Junior Tour and June 12 and 13 he was in Swift Current at the Finora Classic. Wilson finished 13th in the boys' 17 to 19 division with a 159.

Steven Piett shot an 84 on his first round and cut that down to 78 on the second round in Saskatoon and came in tied for 59th.

Taylor Cook finished with an 88 and 83 and was one of the youngest golfers in the tournament. Cook placed 70th.

Cook, like Wilson, also competes on the Maple Leaf Junior Tour and was in Swift Current at the same time. Cook finished tied for 12th in the 14-16 division with a 167 score.
