As the Battlefords North Stars prepare for the upcoming hockey season, some former North Stars are now preparing for a new challenge in the hockey world.

Last year's captain Mitch Wall along with assistant captain Brody Malek have signed contract to play with the Columbus Cottonmouths of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

In his third season with the team, Wall recorded 14 goals and 22 assists with 93 penalty minutes in 46 games. Both Wall and Malek missed some time due to injuries during their junior careers, but both are looking forward to the new challenge in Columbus.

Malek played 52 games while wracking up seven goals and six assists with 37 penalty minutes.

Also heading to play pro hockey is another former assistant captain, Jesse LeBreton. The defencman was a corner stone for the North Stars defensive unit for three seasons and was three times named the team's top defenceman. LeBreton will leave Wednesday for his new team in Paris France. LeBreton signed a contract with the Neuilly-sur-marne Bisons in the first division of pro hockey in France.

LeBreton had 13 goals and 23 assists with 28 penalty minutes in 56 games last season.

These three players along with graduates, Blake Peake (NCAA Div. I), Chad Filteau (NCAA Div.I) and Grant Fahnorst (NCAA Div. III) all have will be heading off to their new teams in the next couple of weeks.
