The Battlefords North Stars will once again host an annual week-long hockey school. The North Stars announced their Future Stars Hockey Camp will operate over five days from Aug. 25 to 29 at the Civic Centre.
The Future Stars Hockey Camp will consist of three age groups, novice (2006-07 birth year), atom (2004-05 birth year), and peewee (2002-03 birth year). All three groups will participate in two on-ice sessions daily, dry land sessions, team building and classroom sessions. A lunch program will also be available to all participants for the five days of camp. Cost to attend the camp is $300, which includes a jersey. The lunch program is available at an additional $50, which includes meals for the five days. Space is limited to 24 participants per group.
The camp will be conducted by the North Stars' coaching staff and current players. Throughout the week, emphasis will be placed on keeping the game fun, skill development, team building, camaraderie, nutrition and conditioning.
"We are thrilled to offer this development opportunity to local and area players," head coach and general manager Kevin Hasselberg said. "This is one of many steps to ensure we are actively participating to enhance the development of young hockey players in this region. Wouldn't it be amazing to witness participants from this camp represent the North Stars in the future?"
In addition to the Future Stars Hockey Camp, the North Stars will be hosting prep camps. These camps will feature two age groups, bantam/midget (1999-2001) and midget/junior (1994-98). Camps will consist of an hour of on-ice instruction and an hour of off-ice training daily. The cost for the five day camps is $100 with a limit of 24 players per group. Sessions will begin at 5:15 p.m. daily and will be completed by 7:45 p.m.
