The Battlefords North Stars are a month away from starting training camp and have just announced some transactions as they prepare for the 2013-14 season.

The North Stars reacquired forward Nick Fountain for future considerations. Fountain started last season with the North Stars and had one assist in two games before being traded to the Winkler Flyers in the MJHL. He was later moved to the Abitibi Eskimos of the NOJHL. Fountain is a speedy forward and can be frustrating to play against. He had nine goals and eight assists in 24 games with the Eskimos during his first season of junior A hockey.

The Battlefords North Stars also traded 1993-born forward Brandon Long to the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL for future considerations.

Long had 10 goals and 17 assists in 48 games for the North Stars last season. Long now has the opportunity to play closer to his hometown of Calgary, Alta.
