As the Battlefords North Stars moved a game over .500, they held the seventh spot in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Source Embroidery Power Rankings.
The North Stars are in the midst of a winning streak and are still the fourth ranked team in the Bauer Conference.
Flin Flon, Nipawin and Humboldt come in this week ranked second, fourth and fifth respectively. The top ranked team is the Notre Dame Hounds, who the North Stars have beat three times this season. The Hounds moved from third to first place this week.
Nationally, Flin Flon is the high SJHL team in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's Top 20. The Bombers fell from second to third while the Yorkton Terriers and Hounds jumped into the rankings at 17th and 18th after being honourable mentions last week.
The Brooks Bandits of the AJHL remain the top ranked team in the country.
Another interesting not from the SJHL is that Nipawin forward Artsiom Kalashnikov has been named to Team Belarus, at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship starting Dec. 9 in Amiens, France.
Team Belarus will compete in Division I of the annual tournament. The top two teams from Division I this season will move up to the Elite Division next season. The Elite Division is featured on TSN starting Boxing Day and is expected to be one of the most exciting years to watch due to the NHL lockout and nearly all junior age players being allowed to play for their respective countries.
??Kalashnikov and Team Belarus will compete in a pool with Denmark, Austria, Norway, Slovenia and France. ?
SJHL Players of the Week
Finaly Joey Davies of the Humbodlt Broncos has been dethroned as the player of the week. Brandon Millin of Notre Dame now holds that honour after collecting a goal and four assists in three games last week. Millin has been a huge factor in the Hounds going on a 10-0-0-1 record as of late.
Weyburn's Tyler Borstmayer was named the defenceman of the week after his team won on the weekend and he had an assist in each win. He has four points of the season and it is his 64? frame that makes him such a big factor on the Red Wings blue-line.
Kale Thomson of Yorkton was named the goaltender of the week after Thomson held the Terriers win twice over Melville last week. He had a 1.44 goals-against average and .952 save percentage during the week.
The lone winner of the league's weekly honours from the Bauer Conference was Flin Flon Bombers youngster Brett Boehm. Boehm was named the rookie of the week with two goals and two assists in two games. He leads all rookies in points with 28 in 20 games this season.
