The Battlefords North Stars are still searching for the right combination on their roster and that was evident last week, as they made two more acquisitions.

The North Stars traded veteran forward Roger Tagoona and list player Carter Folk to Estevan in exchange for two list players.

Tagoona, a 20-year-old forward, played a total of 47 games with the North Stars. He was traded from Melville to the Battlefords during the season last year. Tagoona had two goals and four assists in nine games with the North Stars this season. He also had one of, if not, the biggest goals for the North Stars last season in the overtime against Nipawin in the playoffs to advance to the face Humboldt.

Ironically, after the trade was made Tagoona travelled on the bus with the North Stars to Estevan and played against the North Stars Friday night.

Folk plays with the Regina Pat Canadians in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League and is a prospect of the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League.

From the Bruins, the North Stars received prospects Wyatt Johnson, a 17-year-old forward, and Ryland Pashovitz, a 17-year-old goaltender, both from Saskatoon.

Johnson played last season with the Saskatoon Blazers and finished the season with 45 points in 42 games played. He is property of the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL, but has been sidelines with an injury so far this season.

Pashovitz is playing with the Moose Jaw Generals of the SMAAAHL. He is fourth in the league in goals-against average and has five wins and a tie in seven games this season.

The other move made by the North Stars involved rookie forward Nick Fountain being traded to the Winkler Flyers of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. The North Stars were carrying nine import players, which was one more than the SJHL permits. They needed to make this move to get within the league requirements, as Ben Greenaway return to the lineup after being injured in the pre-season.

Fountain had one assist in two games and 19 penalty minutes with the North Stars.

If Fountain remains with the Flyers they will send future considerations to the North Stars.
