Three Battlefords North Stars have joined the best young players in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League in Humboldt, as the league identification camp was underway this week.

The camp, held Monday and Tuesday, was to help coach Dean Brockman and his staff with his evaluations and selections for the World Junior A Challenge, which takes place in November in Yarmouth, N.S.

Brockman will coach Team West, which is made up of the best 1993,'94 and '95 born players in the SJHL, Alberta Junior Hockey League, British Columbia Hockey League, Manitoba Junior Hockey League and the Superior International Hockey League.

In the first game, Monday, North Stars Spencer Gosselin and Josh Betinol both found the back of the net. Bethinol also assisted on Gosselin's goal. The other North Star was a rival at the camp, as goaltender Casey Parker suited up for Team Green. He stopped 18 of 21 shots in Monday's game.

Along with the camp being an evaluation process, scouts from the National Hockey League, Western Hockey League and National Collegiate Athletic Association were expected to gather in Humboldt.
