The Battlefords North Stars hit the road this weekend for their first eastern road swing of the season.

The North Stats play the Melville Millionaires on Friday night. Game time is 7 p.m. at Horizon Credit Union Centre.

The team then heads to Yorkton to play the Yorkton Terriers on Saturday night.  Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Westland Arena.

The North Stars are back home next Tuesday night against the Estevan Bruins. Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Access Communications Centre.

The club enters the weekend still in a dogfight for first place in the Global Ag Risk Solutions Division. The club enters the weekend with a 7-3-1-0 record for 15 points, one point back of Humboldt who are 8-4-0-0.

Meanwhile, both Yorkton and Melville have been struggling in the early going this season. Yorkton enters the weekend with a 4-8-0-0 record and Melville 1-4-4-0.

The North Stars enter the road trip on a two game win streak after big wins over Melfort and La Ronge last week. Those strong wins have earned a couple of North Stars players some much-deserved Player of the Week recognition earlier this week.

Steven Kesslering was named SGEU MVP of the Week after getting a goal and assist in Melfort and then getting three assists in the 10-3 romp over La Ronge.

The DirectWest SJHL Rookie of the Week is Colby Bear. Last week, Bear had a goal against the Mustangs and got two goals against La Ronge.
