The new faces on the Battlefords North Stars bench are about to be unveiled.

On Wednesday at 10 a.m., the defending Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League champions will be announcing their new head coach and general manager for the 2017-18 season at the Civic Centre, along with their new assistant coach for the upcoming campaign.

The head coach and general manager position became open in June when Nate Bedford departed the team to become the head coach for the Portage College Voyageurs in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference.

Bedford had replaced Kevin Hasselberg last August when he had moved on to take a head coaching job with the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Hasselberg was relieved of his duties halfway through the season and is now behind the bench of the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Drumheller Dragons.

Prior to Bedford’s departure, the North Stars were in search of a new assistant coach as Braeden Johnson left the team after two-and-a-half seasons to return to school.

The trainer position is also vacant at the moment for the squad, as Robert Tanner returned to British Columbia following a two-year stint in North Battleford.

The North Stars are currently the only team in the SJHL that will have a new bench boss when the season gets underway in September.

Evan Vossen will be entering his first full season as the head coach and general manager of the La Ronge Ice Wolves after he was hired by the team in November.
