Nick Fountain had a goal and two assists to help the Battlefords North Stars extend their winning streak to four games Tuesday night with a 4-3 win in Flin Flon over the Bombers.

Fountain opened the scoring in the first period during a five-minute North Stars' power play. He deflected the point shot from Dillon Forbes past Bombers' goaltender Devin Buffalo.

The power play was a result of a dangerous hit from behind by Flin Flon forward Brett Boehm on Braden Lacoursiere. Boehm also received a game misconduct for the hit. Lacoursiere was bleeding on the ice and did not return to the game.

The Bombers tied the game early in the second period at the end of a long shift for the North Stars. Tyson Empey beat Battlefords' goalie Michael Gudmandson over his blocker on a two-on-one with Erik Pederson.

Shortly after the goal, the Bombers were awarded a penalty shot when a North Stars player covered the puck in the crease with his glove, but Austin Calladine could not beat Gudmandson to break the tie.

During an interference penalty to North Stars' forward Regan Yew, Flin Flon broke the tie at 4:17 of the middle frame. Gudmandson made a couple of saves in close until the rebound found Brock Hounsell's stick and he buried his third goal on the season.

The North Stars responded with a power-play goal of their own midway through the period. Ryne Keller jammed the loose puck home to tie the game at two. Buffalo was not happy with the call, feeling he covered the puck.

Reigning SJHL Player of the Week Blake Young broke the tie eight minutes into the third period. He scored his 10th goal after he picked up the puck on a Flin Flon turnover in their own end, beating Buffalo over his glove hand.

The lead would not last long as the Bombers responded 18 seconds later. The puck hit Dean Allison and went in as he crashed the net for the rebound. The Battlefords bench was under the impression he threw it in, but the goal would stand.

Battlefords would take the lead for good halfway through the third on Jack Petrino's second goal of the season. He beat Buffalo on his glove side through a potential screen.

Gudmandson, who was named SJHL Goaltender of the Week, made 32 saves to remain undefeated as a starter with the North Stars. Buffalo stopped 35 shots in a losing effort.

The North Stars (12-13-0-2) are now five points back of the division lead. They have earned 18 of a possible 22 points in November. Flin Flon (12-12-0-0) has lost four of their last six games.
