Northwest residents run the Boston Marathon

Athletes from the Northwest made the trip to Boston, Mass. to run in the 118th Boston Marathon. Three of the 25 participants from Saskatchewan were from the Northwest. Robert St.

Athletes from the Northwest made the trip to Boston, Mass. to run in the 118th Boston Marathon.

Three of the 25 participants from Saskatchewan were from the Northwest.

Robert St. Amant from Meota was the fastest of the three Northwest runners and finished sixth out of everyone from Saskatchewan. He ran the 42.195-kilometre course in 3:22:27.

Battleford resident Brian Graw finished the marathon in 3:33:31. Peter Kreutz from Lashburn completed the course in 3:39:41.

Anna Graw-Bielecki, originally from Battleford and Brian's sister, finished the marathon in 3:35:51. She was the second fastest female participant from Saskatchewan.

In the overall standings, Meb Keflezighi from San Diego, Calif. won the men's marathon, running the course in 2:08:37. He was the first American male to win the Boston Marathon since 1983.

Rita Jeptoo finished first in the women's race. She ran the marathon in 2:18:57.
