Midget AA
The Midget AA Broncos will face a winner take all game five after winning twice in three attempts this week to tie their best of five series at two games apiece with Unity.
The Broncos’ week got off to a tough start as they were beaten soundly by Unity 5-1 in game two on Feb. 22 in Humboldt.
Skylar Wallin scored the lone goal for the Broncos, who trailed 1-0 after the first, and 5-1 after the second.
The Broncos got back in the win column, and cut their series deficit to 2-1 with a 4-1 win over Unity on Feb. 24 in Unity.
Maguire Scheidt led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring twice, while Damon Vanderlinde and Gavin Ingram added the others as the Broncos led 1-0 after the first and 2-1 after the second.
Needing a win to stay alive, the Broncos took care of home ice, knocking off Unity 4-2 on Feb. 25 in Humboldt.
Kody Perlett, Prescott Senger, Dylan Lindal, and Vanderlinde all found the back of the net for the Broncos, who led 2-0 after the first and were tied at two after the second.
Bantam AA
The Bantam AA Broncos are third round bound after picking up a two games to none sweep of the Saskatoon Generals.
The Broncos kicked off their playoffs on a high as they knocked off the Saskatoon Generals 7-4 in game one of their best of three playoff series on Feb. 24 in Humboldt.
Luke Stadnyk led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring twice, while Kylynn Olafson, Austin Berezowski, Kaiden Korolchuk, Noah Barlage, and Nolan Allan added the others as the Broncos led 2-1 after one and 4-2 after two.
The Broncos quickly put an end to the series picking up a 7-6 win over the Generals on Feb. 25 in Saskatoon.
Jackson Mark, Olafson, Korolchuk, Easton Ediger, Griffen Helberg, Stadnyk, and Allan all found the back of the net for the Broncos who trailed 4-1 after the first and 5-2 after the second, before scoring five times in the third to complete the comeback.
With the win the Broncos will head into the third round where they will take on the Saskatoon Outlaws, if Prince Albert wins game three over the Saskatoon Stallions, and should the Stallions win the Broncos would take on West Central.
Peewee AA
The Humboldt Peewee AA Broncos are semi-final bound after putting the finishing touches on a two games to none sweep of Warman.
The Broncos put the series away by knocking off Warman 4-3 in game two on Feb. 22 in Warman.
Rylen Sigstad led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring twice, while Bauer Dumanski and Edward Knittig each chipped in with a single as the Broncos led 1-0 after the first and were tied at one after the second.
With the series win the Broncos move into the semi-final where they will take on Prince Albert.
Atom Tier 2
It was an up and down week for the Atom Tier 2 Broncos as they picked up wins in two of their four contests.
The Broncos played back to backs on back-to-back days, starting on Feb. 24 with a pair of games against the AtoMc 1 Scorpions.
The Broncos kicked off their day on a low note as they fell 3-2 to the Scorpions, before rebounding for a 9-4 win.
The Broncos’ busy weekend continued with games on Feb. 25 against the AtoMc 1 Titans and the AtoMc 1 Shellbrook Elks.
After picking up a 5-4 win over the Titans in their first game the Broncos were unable to carry that momentum forward falling 7-2 to the Elks.
Thanks to their 2-2 week, the Broncos wrap up the regular season with an overall record of 18-3-1, good enough for top spot in league standings.
With the regular season title, the Broncos will head into the playoffs as the top seed, which will see the Broncos possess a first round playoff bye.
Novice 1
It was a tough week for the Novice 1 Broncos as they dropped a 10-8 decision to Southey on Feb. 24 in Southey.
Preston Hoppe led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring six times, while Jimmy Ingram added a pair as the Broncos trailed 3-1 after one and 6-3 after two.
Novice 2
The Novice 2 Broncos are facing a winner take all game three situation after splitting the first two of their best of three series against Foam Lake.
The Broncos kicked off their playoff series with a narrow 7-6 win on Feb. 24 in Humboldt.
Tryce Wallin led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring four times, while Carter Trann chipped in with a pair and Jonah Hayward added a single as the Broncos trailed 1-0 after one and 5-2 after two before scoring four times in the third, including one with six second remaining, to force overtime, where Trann scored the winner.
With a chance to win the series the Broncos came up short, losing 4-3 to Foam Lake on Feb. 25 in Foam Lake.
Wallin led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring twice, while Trann added the other as the Broncos were tied at one after one and at two after two.
Novice 3
The Novice 3 Broncos are championship bound after sweeping Wadena J two games to none in their best of three semi-final series.
The Broncos kicked off the series on a high note as they routed Wadena J 10-1 on Feb. 21 in Humboldt.
Carter Possberg led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring four times, while Sloan Harder added a trio, Hudson Armstrong chipped in with a pair, and Chase Possberg scored the other as the Broncos led 2-0 after the first and 6-0 after the second.
The Broncos then made sure to put an end to the series quickly picking up a 7-3 win on Feb. 23 in Wadena.
Armstrong led the way offensively for the Broncos scoring four times, while Carter Possberg added a pair and Andrew Millette chipped in with the other as the Broncos led 2-0 after one and 6-0 after two.
With the series win the Broncos will move into the championship final where they will take on the winner of Humboldt 2 and Foam Lake.v
