As competitive as the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League was this season, followers of the sport had to expect the teams entered in provincials would put up a good fight for championships in their respective categories.

Last weekend, four teams from the league were in Lloydminster for the senior A tournament. The host team the Border City Blue Jays did it the hard way, but they were crowned provincial champions.

The Jays beat Carlyle in their first game and after a loss Saturday, they were won win away from being knocked out.

The Jays fortunately used their top two pitchers, Brian White and Colby Field, in both games and beat Wilkie twice on Sunday to win.

The second game had the jays up 5-0 after the first inning, but Wilkie chipped away and tied the game 7-7 in the seventh. In the 10th, the Brewers surrendered the winning run to the Jays with bases loaded.

North Battleford started the weekend off right with a win over the Meadow Lake White Sox, but their pitching staff was quit depleted for action Saturday.

Wilkie beat the Beavers and North Battleford was eventually eliminated Saturday as was Meadow Lake.

In senior A2 provincials the lone league representative was Unity. The Cardinals marched to the final, but came up short in their quest for another provincial championship.
