NSRHL games from last week

The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League saw six games over the weekend. Dec. 14 saw the Wilkie Outlaws play the Edam 3 Stars, the Turtleford Tigers face off against the Paradise Hill Hawks, and the Meadow Lake Stampeders play the St.

The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League saw six games over the weekend.

Dec. 14 saw the Wilkie Outlaws play the Edam 3 Stars, the Turtleford Tigers face off against the Paradise Hill Hawks, and the Meadow Lake Stampeders play the St. Walburg Eagles. In Edam, the Outlaws were shut out by a score of 3-0, with two goals from Mitch Wall and one from Jacob LaClare.

In Paradise Hill, the Turtleford Tigers went up early, scoring one goal in the first, and never looked back, scoring four goals in the second and one in the third, and winning 6-3. Jamie Sparkes, Jamie Jeanotte and Aaron Gervais notched goals for Paradise Hill and Adam Schwark, Brett Medve, Darren Delainey and Kris Bloom all scored one for Turtleford, and Mitch Perkins scored two.

In St. Walburg, the Eagles proved easily why they are the top-ranked team in the league. Trent Campbell scored a hat trick for St. Walburg and notched two points, and Trevor Bailey, Duane Larre, Randy Larre, Kevin Nasby and Curtis Zerr each scored one. Ashton McIntyre and DJ King scored the only Meadow Lake goals.

Three games were played on Sunday as well. The Edam 3 Stars played the Stampeders, the Eagles faced the Tigers and the Maidstone Jets faced the Wilkie Outlaws.

In Meadow Lake, Edam extended a winning streak to three games and Meadow Lake extended its losing streak to three games. Out of the 11 goals scored, Edam scored seven, with one each from Brennan Weitzel, Jordan Blaquiere, Brent Blais and O'Neil Billargeron, and a hat trick from Mitch Wall. Anthony Radke, Ashton McIntyre, DJ King and Darren Caron each scored one for Meadow Lake.

In Turtleford, the second-place Tigers were hot enough to beat first place St. Walburg by a score of 5-2, the first Eagles loss of the season and the fifth win in a row for Turtleford. Cory Scott, Adam Schwark and Mitch Perkins scored one and Darren Delainey scored two for Turtleford. Scoring for St. Walburg were Curtis Zerr and Taylor Thiessen.

In Wilkie, the last-place Maidstone Jets won their first game of the season by a 7-4 score, in the Outlaws' second-straight loss. Jared Rutley, Kevin Rhinehart, Tyler Johnson and Brett Harrison each scored one for Maidstone and Rory Gregoire earned a hat trick. Scoring for Wilkie were Andrew Herle and Robert Keller, who each scored one, and Barrett Penner, who scored two.

The last five games of 2012 will be played on Dec. 21 and 22.
