The season is over and now teams and the executive of the North Saskatchewan River Hockey League will look to the 2012-13 campaign.
Expect there to be a few differences next season with the biggest being that Spiritwood will likely not be in the league. The Timberwolves have shown interest and have started the process to change to Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League.
Maidstone, St. Walburg, Wilkie, Paradise Hill, Turtleford and Edam will continue to operate under the Saskatchewan Hockey Association provincial D regulations, while Meadow Lake remains able to have one import who played minor hockey there and approved by the board.
A change that will be made off the ice includes the executive, as president Roland Olson plans to no longer serve as the league president while Lyle Harley will no longer be the referee-in-chief for the league.
The position of referee-in-chief has already been filled, but the president's position is open said Olson.
Monday, at the annual general meeting, the team representatives and league executive also discussed the use of local linesman noting that portion of the budget was what some feel unnecessarily higher than it needed to be.
As it sits right now, Maidstone will have six other teams to beat to defend their first ever NSRHL championship, but there is some outside interest in other teams, but ultimately that is up to the teams to decide in September said Olson.
